A three-year-old boy managed to drive his father’s car down two 30ft embankments and into a pub garden – but walked away with just a bump to the head.

The child managed to unlock the Subaru Impreza parked in the family home in Henley, near Midhurst in Sussex, and drive down the driveway and eventually coming to rest in the garden of the Duke of Cumberland Arms.

No one at the pub, which was listed in the PMA’s Top 50 Gastro Pubs 2013, was willing to comment on yesterday's dramatic incident when approached by the PMA.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The boy unlocked the Subaru Impreza vehicle, which is an automatic, started it and drove it down the driveway, down two embankments and ended up in the garden of the Duke of Cumberland Arms pub.

“He suffered a slight bump to the head after hitting it on the steering wheel. An ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital to be checked out. No one else was hurt, although the car was damaged.”
