Heineken has launched special edition packaging to celebrate the 350th anniversary of the original Kronenbourg brewery.

The limited edition packaging is available in pubs from now until December. The company says the new design is intended to showcase the heritage and brewing expertise behind the brand. The limited edition new-look features a colour split label of silver and the classic Kronenbourg 1664 blue, emblazoned with the text ‘Celebrating 350 years of brewing excellence’.

The 350th anniversary will be supported by an advertising campaign and limited edition glassware in selected outlets, as well as a competition for pub customers.

The history of the French brand began in 1664, when Jerome Hatt created the first ever batch in central Strasbourg, shortly after receiving his brewing diploma. What is today recognised as Kronenbourg 1664 was actually created in 1852, to celebrate the founder and the provenance of original ingredients, which all came from the Alsace region of France.
