Hampshire-based Upham Pub Group has grown its estate to ten with the acquisition of the Peat Spade in Stockbridge from Miller’s Collection.

The operator already has sites across Hampshire, Berkshire, Sussex and Wiltshire and supplies around 450 stockists from its brewery, which launched in May 2013.

The company says it plans to work with pub manager Ben Maybury to build on the Peat Spade’s reputation as a destination food pub.

A refurbishment of the dining area and some structural changes are planned for the new year.

The pub has also recruited a new head chef, Nathan Gelbert, and will introduce a new-look menu.

Upham Pub Group CEO, Chris Phillips, said: “I would often drop into the Peat Spade for a drink and would think about the potential it has so I am particularly proud that it is now part of The Upham Group.

“We will work hard to keep building its profile and making considered improvements which are sympathetic to its history and local wishes. The Peat Spade has every ingredient to become a fantastic advert for the true essence of a British country pub.”
