The isle of Arran Brewery has opened a company in the US to facilitate its imports into the country.

The new chief executive of the US operation is Karen Miles, former finance director of the US Rice Producers Association, who will now take on the task of registering Arran Brewery labels in the country’s 50 states and obtaining  importer licenses.

The company will not just be importing its own beers but will be importing other Scottish and other European Craft Beers into the US market, which grew by 18% in the last six months alone.

Managing director Gerald Michaluk said: “We have had great support from Scottish Enterprise and STI as well as UKDTI in entering the US market and this major drive will see Arran Beers being available to beer wholesalers throughout the USA in 2015.

“This is a considerable investment as the brewery continues to build the new brewery at Loch Earn and has just taken the keys for its Sake brewery development in Dreghorn, North Ayrshire.”
