A Drake & Morgan bar is serving a marmalade sandwich with a marmalade-flavoured cocktail in honour of Paddington Bear’s first feature-length film.

The Fable, in Holborn, London, will be serving Paddington’s Pisco Marmalade Fizz (£7.95) throughout November.

Served with a mini marmalade sandwich, known as Paddington Bear’s favourite, the cocktail comes in a coupe and is made with Pisco ABA!, which is a Chilean brandy, as well as lemon, sugar, prosecco and “two healthy dollops” of marmalade.

Paddington will be in cinemas UK-wide from 28 November.

Rum and marmalade

Last year, mixologist David Hamilton Boyd won the first annual Putting Pen To Shaker competition with a rum and marmalade cocktail also inspired by the children’s book character.

Hamilton Boyd’s cocktail, called Does A Bear Drink Rum in Peru (Of Course He Does), used Virgin Gorda rum flash-infused with hot-buttered sourdough toast, and mixed with lemon juice, camomile and vanilla bitters made with AKA Vodka, and orange marmalade created using Ish Gin and Ish Limed.

Topped with soda and crushed ice, the cocktail was served with a garnish of tiny marmalade sandwiches in two glasses tucked inside a pair of small red Wellington boots.

Afternoon tea

The Athenaeum Hotel in London’s Mayfair are launching a themed afternoon tea featuring a Paddington Bear for customers to take home. The tea is served in the hotel’s garden room and features marmalade glazed ham with clementine marmalade, orange Bakewell tarts, orange macaroons and dinky chocolate tea cups with orange and white chocolate mousse. The tea is available until the end of December.

Served in Paddington’s suitcase

Aqua Shard in London is also offering a Paddington afternoon tea featuring an orange marmalade macaroon and a Paddington praline cream bun and chilli and chocolate black cab, served in a battered old suitcase like Paddington’s.
