Maris Piper, King Edwards and Cutra potatoes are used to make the vodka from Arbikie, a new Scottish distillery.

The business, run by three brothers - Iain, David and John Stirling (pictured) - claims to be a farm-to-bottle operation, growing the potatoes, distilling and bottling on-site at their estate overlooking Lunan Bay on the Angus coast.

Arbikie Vodka is the first spirit to be produced at the distillery, with whisky and gin to follow next year.

It is said to be “slightly sweet, very creamy and exceptionally smooth,” and is enjoyable neat, over ice as well as making a mean martini.

“We believe that drinking should be no different than the way we eat, goodness from the ground up,” said commercial director Iain Stirling.
