Star Pubs & Bars has praised its outstanding lessees at its annual awards, with multiple operators scooping a quarter of the gongs.

The Star Pub Awards saw 15 accolades handed out including new categories for Best Use of Social Media and Team Training. The number of finalists was doubled to 90.

Judging was carried out over three months by both Heineken and Star Pubs & Bars’ employees as well as sponsors with special expertise in each category.

Chris Jowsey, trading director of Star Pubs & Bars, said: “The level of commitment, vision and commercial acumen we saw amongst our lessees is phenomenal. Judging such brilliant operators is humbling but also highly inspirational. With such talented individuals dedicated to the pub industry, it’s hard not to feel there is a very bright future ahead for the great British pub.”
