The duo behind Brighton-based Small Batch Coffee is to open a craft beer and shellfish pub.

The coffee brand’s owner Brad Jacobsen and its chairman Nigel Lambe are to open The Urchin on the site of The Bell Pub, on Belfast Street, Hove, later this month.

Small Batch currently has its own roastery which supplies five city cafes.

Lambe, who is also behind Brighton’s Velo Cafe, told The Argus newspaper:  “We’re pretty excited because this kind of thing hasn’t really been done in Brighton and Hove before.

“It’s a place that’s famous for its seafood and though there are fish restaurants there aren’t really any dedicated to shellfish.”

The 30-cover restaurant is expected to open shortly after the pub.
