The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has named its top Beard Friendly Pubs in the UK.

The list was compiled from an online poll of Beard Liberation Front supporters that was also open to the public.

Top 5 Most Beard-Friendly Pubs

  • Jolly Butchers, Stoke Newington
  • Urban Tap House, Cardiff
  • The 23 Club, Liverpool
  • The Cock Tavern, Hackney,
  • Brewdog bars (pubs across the UK)

BLF organiser Keith Flett said the Jolly Butchers remained the benchmark for beard-friendly pubs, but the Urban Tap House underlined that the rest of the UK is becoming much more beard friendly.

The BLF says that the number and range of beard-friendly pubs has continued to increase significantly over the past year.

Judging criteria for beard-friendly pubs include a venue that welcomes the hirsute and often has a significant number of hirsute customers, as well as providing a “beard-friendly ambience”.

Flett added that he thought there was a link between "stylish beards and beers and good pubs".
