Operators nationwide are using various promotional strategies and events to drive profits for the remaining three rounds of the Six Nations tournament.

The first round of RBS’ Six Nations came to an explosive end last week with stunning victories for England, Ireland and France, with the next three rounds taking place between 14 February and 21 March.

Package deals

Young’s owned Dirty Dicks, near Liverpool St, London, is offering a package deal for groups of rugby-loving customers on fixture days.

For £20 a head, patrons will receive a burger, a pint of Heineken and two bottles of beer of their choice in their own beer bucket. Bookings are limited to groups of four or more people.

Several Young's venues are also making VIP suites available which feature plasma screen TVs, fully-stocked Heineken fridges and dedicated waiting staff.

Social media

Geronimo Inns has launched a Six Nations-inspired #GeronimoLovesRugby social media campaign.

The pubco is encouraging their operators to tweet about their specific Six Nations promotions and customers to share pictures of them and their friends watching the games at different Geronimo outlets.

Notable offerings so far include the Half Moon, in Putney’s Six Nations sharing board and the Cow, in Westfield’s half time six inch sausage roll.

Pie and a pint

Drink in Brighton venue the North Laine is offering customers pie and a pint for £10 during any Six Nations match, as well as the chance to win a mini keg of Laine Brewing ale, made in the pub’s own on-site micro-brewery.

The North Lain will also be stocking "Hooker", its specially brewed, Six Nations inspired beer and offering table service in the "Sheep Stewards" section of the pub so customers don't have to miss any of the game when ordering meals.

Themed pies

Young's site the Windmill, in Mayfair, London is combining two events - RBS Six Nations and British Pie Week - to put on a week-long Six Nations inspired pie challenge.

Customers have been invited to test their stamina by guzzling down a pie inspired by a different national contender and a paired beverage every day from 2 - 8 March.

Some of the pies on offer include ligurian fish pie with pinot grigot, haggis pie with a dram of whisky and steak and kidney pie with Bombardier ale.
