Several hospitality operators have been named in the London Stock Exchange's list of 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain, celebrating some of the UK’s fastest-growing small and medium sized businesses.

Businesses that made the cut included:

  • Anglian Country Inns
  • Hearthstone Inns
  • Itsu
  • Nelson Hotels
  • Oakman Inns
  • Jigsaw Foods
  • Just Eat
  • Levant Restaurants
  • Meantime Brewing Company
  • Mexican Grill
  • Thatchers Cider
  • Ed’s Easy Diner
  • Brewdog
  • Bulldog Hotel Group
  • Barburitto
  • Chadwick Brothers

James Nye, managing director of Anglian Country Inns (ACI), which won Best Food Offer at the Publican Awards in 2013 and 2014, said: “This is phenomenal recognition. Inspiration comes down to one thing and that is ‘people’ so this is a testament to the amazing teams we have working at ACI.

“It is an extreme honour to be flying the flag in the UK for the food and drink sector.”

To be considered for the list, companies needed to report consistent revenue growth over at least three years and to have significantly outperformed their peers.

Xavier Rolet, chief executive of the London Stock Exchange Group, said: “This report is a significant part of LSE’s broader campaign to support UK high growth companies in their journeys from start-up to stardom and to create an entrepreneurship revolution.

“I’m delighted that a strong alliance between UK government, financial market participants, investors, entrepreneurs and companies has been created to support these inspiring businesses.”
