The White Hart Inn is appalled at waste management service Biffa
A pub freeholder is appalled with a waste collection service after four weeks of rubbish accumulated in her pub garden.

Gale Jenkinson has not been offered a refund despite waste management provider Biffa failing to collect bottles, waste and recycling three times at free house pub The White Hart Inn, Bishop’s Caundle.

“If somebody sits in the garden there’s a great danger they’re going to smell it soon, I’ve tried to hide it,” she told the PMA.

“I would thoroughly recommend that nobody uses Biffa. There have been problems right from the get go. They came and charmed me and told me they were going to be fantastic.”

She explained the pub’s empty bottles were not collected for two months last year.

“It’s a myriad of excuses. As publicans we have little time to fight about it, we want to problem to be resolved,” she added.

After all three missed collections Biffa said moving the bins would have broken health and safety regulations as they were too heavy.

But employees at the pub carried the bins outside without any trouble.

“If you don’t collect it because it’s too heavy it’s just going to get heavier and heavier,” she said.

“There’s been no offer on a refund. I’m paying money up front for nothing. I’m going back to the Dorset council.”

The bins have now been collected.

“It’s a shame to have to make this much of a fuss to get any action, I’m appalled” she added.

A spokesman for Biffa said its customer services team has been liaising closely with the White Hart Inn to resolve any issues, and ensure the business receives the ‘high quality service expected of Biffa’.

“In order to comply with our rigorous health and safety procedures, we have, on occasion, been unable to collect waste from the White Hart Inn due to the weight of the containers,” the spokesman said.

The company has delivered additional containers to help collections.
