London pubs are facing competition from online delivery service Amazon after it launched a one hour delivery service for alcohol.

The online giant is offering the super-speedy option to drinkers in the capital as part of its new Prime Now service.

Around 80 wines, beers and spirits will be available, including craft beers from Greenwich Meantime, Camden Town Brewery and Mexican brewer Day of the Dead. Spirit options include Pimms, Grey Goose vodka and Sipsmith gin.

A minimum spend of £20 will be required to get the booze within an hour, alongside an additional £6.00 charge.

Alcohol awareness charity Drink Wise UK criticised the move on Twitter, saying: “Just in case alcohol wasn’t easy enough to buy…”

Prime Now is expected to be rolled out across the rest of the UK later this year.
