Epic celebrity pub quiz battle between Eggheads, The Chase and Millionaire stars
Manager at the at the Lady of Man pub Matt Haycox said the star-studded quiz was a “great boost” for trade, with the competition kicking off at 10am, way before normal opening time.
The Quiz of the North was eventually won by Egghead and former Millionaire champion Pat Gibson.
“They started out with a lot of orange juice and coffees, but they got really into the swing of it later, and had a few pints. There were a few celebs here, so there was a lot of interest in the evening,” Haycox told the PMA.
Gibson beat stiff competition from Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha and Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty from The Chase and Kevin Ashman, Barry Simmons and David Rainford from Eggheads.
Haycox continued: “I would love to do it again. Staff tried to join in and they did OK, but nowhere near as good as those guys.”
The quiz at the pub also featured winners of Mastermind and 15 to 1.
“People came from as far as London. It worked well for us because there was no football on with the international break, people in Liverpool tend to support Liverpool or Everton rather than England,” Haycox added.
