Inside the Freemasons at Wiswell, Lancashire

It's been a year of considerable success for Freemasons at Wiswell chef patron Steven Smith and his team.

As well as placing sixth in Top 50 Gastropubs, Smith's pub was crowned the Good Food Guide's top pub in the country for the second year in a row - the only pub to gain a 7/10 score from the guide to date.

But resting on their laurels is not something the Freemasons team are keen to do.

Smith said: "We're very, very happy, but obviously we still want to progress and keep getting higher [on Top 50 Gastropubs].

"We set out six years ago and said one day we'd absolutely love to get that number one spot."

Smith's partner and co-owner Agnieszka Tyczka was also highly commended in the Best Front of House category in 2015's Top 50 Gastropubs.

"Having that team push in the same direction has absolutely done the utmost for us," he added.
