Brother and sister duo Josh and Holly Eggleton's country pub the Pony & Trap came second in this year's Top 50 Gastropubs, with chef patron Josh's cuisine revered as being some of the best British cooking in the country.

He said: "The pub is a British institution and in the last ten or fifteen years the pub has had to evolve... fine dining is changing and that might have been spearheaded by the pub movement."

A vocal advocate of of Bristol and Somerset's food, this year saw him star on BBC2's​ Great British Menu ​for the second time, winning the South West regional heat. 

He also opened a standalone fish & chip shop, the Salt & Malt on Chew Lake, near the Pony & Trap and took on the role of guest chef for Bristol Sport throughout the Rugby World Cup.
