Throughout the festive period, pubs drive Christmas spirit with decorations, parties and heart-warming tales of community spirit and generosity. The Publican's Morning Advertiser takes a look at some of the most Christmassy pubs out there.

The Maypole Inn in Halesowen, West Midlands, offered children at a local hospice have an extra present on Christmas Day this year.

Worcester pub, the Chestnut Tree, offered a free six-course meal to lonely elderly people.

Some pubs took their Christmas decorations extremely seriously.

But not all pubs were quite as ambitious.

Welsh pub, the Golden Lion, in Camarthen, collected a staggering amount of donations for a Christmas shoebox appeal, to provide gifts for homeless people.

Leicester pub, the Bridle Lane Tavern, gave homeless people a good meal.

The George Inn in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, beat the record for the biggest Christmas dinner.

And a pub in Somerset welcomed popstar Kylie Minogue to attract customers.
