A North Yorkshire licensee was so pleased about being a regional winner of the Great British Pub Awards, he got them tattooed on him.

Alex Cook took on The Mill in Stokesley on February 28 2014 with his business partner Simon Monaghan, according to the Northern Echo.

He already had a tattoo sleeve on his arm and added to this after being the licensee for just three months.

Cook said: “First one was the actual date I took over the pub.”

Winner

The Mill won the regional heats for Best Pub Partnership and Best Newcomer at the Publican's Morning Advertiser's Great British Pub Awards.

The 33 year old from Stokesley explained: “The pub is my biggest achievement and our ethos is to look after each other.

“Above the entrance of the pub it says Team Mill.”

More inking

Cook has future plans for the pub including putting a function room in upstairs to accommodate more customers as well as his tattoos: “I am planning on winning more awards so planning on getting more tattoos.

“If I do win another one, I would get a red Heineken star.”

The Great British Pub Awards is now in its sixteenth year and is recognised by licensees as the “award to win”.
