PubAid welcomes new members
CEO of the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) Mike Clist and Honorary Secretary for the All Parliamentary Beer Group Paul Hegarty have joined PubAid’s board.

The pair join Keith Knowles and Tim Sykes from Beds and Bars; Des O’Flanagan, former managing director at Scottish and Newcastle; and Nick Bish, previously Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers chief executive and now PubAid chairman.

O'Flanagan said this year had been great for PubAid, a group that showcases the charity work carried out by pubs, and added: “We’ve continued our work in getting the message that pubs raise more than £100m for charity every year out there and in the press.

“We organised the World’s Biggest Pub Quiz with 26,760 people taking part across 1,044 pubs to raise £127,781.

“Now we’ve appointed two new members to the board, both hugely respected within our industry and fantastic additions to our group."

He also said the future looks to be busy for the charity: “[The upcoming year] promises to be another busy one for the team, which will be dedicating time to help the pub industry defend its reputation, promote the great work it does and celebrate the great British pub’s position within the fabric of our society.”
