An email received out of the blue has landed one licensee and his team a starring role in a Channel 5 documentary.

Lee Forshaw, director of the Preston-based Withy Arms Group, and members of his team are set to appear on the latest episode of the Carry on Caravanning series this Friday (9 September).

The team found themselves in front of the cameras in their pub, the Walton Arms at Bamber Bridge, and on a campsite in Pooley Bridge in the Lake District after Lee answered an email from production company Alaska TV asking them if they'd like to take part in the show.

The tongue-in-cheek programme follows the group from their day-to-day lives running the pub, through to their experience of caravanning over a five-day period.

Lee said the purpose of appearing on the programme was to raise the profile of his three pubs in the Preston area and said a special event at the Walton Arms would be organised to coincide with the broadcast of the episode.

Lee added: “The production company wouldn’t let us see the episode before it is aired. We don’t even know the storyline the episode will take, so it is as much of a reveal for us as it will be for the other viewers!”
