Since buying the Harlequin, owner Liz Aspden has imparted her passion for cider into both the premises and its customers.

A wide cider offer, both in bag-in-box and on draft, is stocked by this ambitious and passionate landlady, who works with her team to deliver tasting notes to customers.

Her approach to food is interesting too: under its former owners, the pub’s offer was poor and unimaginative. Vegetarian Aspden has delivered a daily changing menu that caters to meat eaters and vegetarians alike, and ciders are suggested as partners to meals.

Garden

A quaint garden at the back of the pub provides a summer refuge for nearby office workers, and it is Aspden’s plan to modernise the pub. A refurbishment will complement her hard work carried out to deliver a homemade food offer and diverse cider range.

Staff are very knowledgeable about the cider and talk customers through the range from a chalkboard, asking questions about flavour preferences and what else they like to drink.

Aspden has brought a very strong and popular cider offer to a pub that was once a beer-heavy boozer, and it is now attracting new punters from far and wide.
