The introduction of a Pizza, Pots and Pints casual-dining concept has seen this backstreet Cambridge boozer thrive.

Charles Wells gave the Salisbury Arms’ energetic team complete control of the concept as the brewery dipped back into the managed market, and the move has paid off with a huge boost in turnover and profits up 31% year-on-year.

The Salisbury Arms’ team is its huge strength, and its infectious enthusiasm breeds a buzzing atmosphere at the pub. A welcoming bar area with a range of craft beers is complemented by a theatrical and rapid pizza oven and kitchen, which is hired out for cooking lessons for enthusiastic pizza lovers.

Food

Stone-baked pizzas are of outstanding quality and value, and can be served with decadent macaroni cheese hotpots, both for outstanding profit margins.

Renovation of the site has retained a traditional pub feel, with a modern twist including wall-mounted bikes, bookshelves and a cosy garden.

The success of the Salisbury Arms team is such that Charles Wells is now planning on expanding the concept, using the expertise of local managers, chefs and staff to spread the format to other sites.
