Brewer and pubco Robinsons has created a new beer to mark the impending seventh season of the hit HBO show Game of Thrones.

The beer, called Pint of Thrones, is a 4% ABV amber ale. It will be available at select Robinsons pubs across the north-west, Cumbria and Wales and nationally via Heineken, Enterprise, Carlsberg and Molson Coors throughout April and May.

Season 7 of Game of Thrones premieres on HBO on 16 July.

TV-themed ales

This is the latest in a series of movie and TV-themed ales created by the Robinsons. Following the trial of Top Gun-themed ale 'Hop Gun' in 2016, the brewer announced in January a string of releases including Pint of Thrones, Robohop (3.6% ABV), Magnum I.P.A (4.1% ABV), and Dark Vader (4.0% ABV).

Gill Yates, brand manager at Robinsons, said: “We chose to focus on Pint of Thrones due to the series’ increasing popularity – we really wanted to provide our drinkers with a delicious, meaningful ale that they can relate to, in anticipation of the new season of their favourite show.”

Pub focus

Robinsons’ sales director Ben Robinson previously told The Morning Advertiser (MA) the company placed ‘considerably more’ importance on its pubs despite an increasing demand for craft beer in the off-trade.

He said: “As a pub owner and operator we believe the pub is a fabric of the community and that beer is best enjoyed in a pub.

“Our tenants are managers and it is absolutely crucial that we support them. The level of investment that we’ve put into our pub estate and the amount of innovation we’ve put in to produce the products far outweighs what we do for the off-trade.”
