England face oldest rivals in cricket and football

The club football season may be over, but a bumper weekend of sport still brings with it opportunities galore for operators to bring customers in.

Cricket: England v Australia (Saturday, 10.30am) – Sky Sports 2

Cricket rivalries don’t come much bigger than England’s with Australia. This may only be a group stage match in the ICC Champions Trophy and England may already be through to the semi-finals, but a victory for England could condemn their rivals to an early exit from the tournament.

Football: Scotland v England (Saturday, 5pm) - ITV & Sky Sports 1

With the club football season over and events outside of sport dominating the news agenda in recent weeks, this crucial World Cup qualifier has almost arrived by surprise. Operators should therefore capitalise on the trade boost the match can bring by promoting the game both on-site and online.

Formula 1: Canadian Grand Prix (Saturday, 6pm for qualifying and Sunday, 7pm for the race) – Sky Sports F1

One of the most exciting Formula 1 races of the year takes place this weekend and, thanks to the time difference, it happens to occur at a very convenient time for pubs wanting to boost their early evening trade on Saturday and Sunday.

Football: Serbia v Wales (Sunday, 7.45pm) – Sky Sports 1

Wales will hope to get their 2018 World Cup qualification campaign back on track against the leaders of their qualification group, Serbia. Wales are far from out of the qualification race for next summer’s tournament in Russia, but four straight draws make this match in Belgrade a win-or-bust encounter for them.
