A Cheshire pub has reopened sporting a new ‘contemporary country pub look’ following a refurbishment exceeding £500,000.

Robinsons Brewery ploughed the funds into the Rising Sun on Tarporley High Street, which has now become the 10th pub in its managed estate.

The previously tenanted alehouse, which reopened today (6 July), was closed for three months during the refurbishment and now features a new courtyard garden for alfresco dining and ‘cosy pockets’ for those seeking a quiet drink.

Capturing the atmosphere

According to Robinsons, the pub was originally owned by the Woodward family for almost 100 years and known throughout Cheshire for its fine ales, as well as being one of the county’s leading saddlers, making it a hot spot for travellers and locals.

“We’ve worked hard to capture the atmosphere and spirit of the old Rising Sun while giving it a fresh and up-to-date look,” new landlord Stuart Wraith said. “We can’t wait to reopen our doors and serve the Tarporley community once more.”

Robinsons managing director (Pubs Division) William Robinson added: “We are delighted to be giving the Rising Sun back to the Tarporley community.

“It is a classic example of a pub at the heart of its community that has evolved at each point in its rich history to reflect the needs and requirements of its customers. We look forward to welcoming all customers, old and new, back into the pub to enjoy the excellent hospitality that Stuart and his team look forward to providing.”
