The Rainbow Project 2017 beers have been unveiled ahead of their launch across the country this weekend.

The project, which first started in 2013, sees seven UK craft breweries team up with counterparts from across the world to brew a beer based on a colour of the rainbow.

This year’s beers were brewed with seven breweries from the USA, and will launch at a host of beer festivals across the country this weekend.

Cross country release

The venues are: Leeds International Beer Festival (7-10 September), Hawkshead Beer Hall (8 September), The Beavertown Extravaganza (8-9 September), Bristol Craft Beer Festival (15-17 September) and the Independent Manchester Beer Convention (29 September-1 October).

The beers will also be available in mixed cases online from 9 September, and in limited quantities in selected pubs and bottle shops.

The UK breweries taking part are: Magic Rock, Partizan, Beavertown, Hawkshead, Burning Sky, Siren and Wild Beer Co.

They have been paired with the following US breweries: Casita Cervecería, New Belgium, Jester King, Modern Times, 3 Floyds, Sante Adairius and Side Project.

Barrel-aged versions

The beers include a lime, hibiscus and chilli gose; a dry hopped American lager; a kettle soured IPA; and a white stout. More details of the brewing process behind each of the beers is available on the Siren Craft Brew website.

The breweries have also collaborated on barrel-aged beers, which will be released in time for the Rainbow Project in 2018.

Siren Craft Brew marketing manager Andy Nolan said: “What makes the Rainbow Project unique is that it creates collaborations that would never otherwise happen. Some of the most imaginative and exciting brewers from the UK and overseas pair up to exchange ideas and advice, recipe development and, in some cases, ingredients and equipment/barrels – the result is some of the most innovative beer in world brewing.”

“Usually the Rainbow Project launches with parties at some of the breweries involved. This year, we’re taking it on tour for the first time, to make it easier for as many people as possible to try the creations at some of the best beer festivals the UK has to offer."
