Wimbledon Brewery launches beer with Nicholson's pub chain
The beer named Hop Harvest, has an ABV of 4.5%. It is pale straw in colour and boasts notes of fruit, melon, herbs and lime zest.
A team of Nicholson’s pub managers – the ‘Cask Masters’ – spent time at the Brewery in south-west London, tasting and talking through the style of beer they wanted with Wimbledon head brewer Charlie Long.
The resulting European Ale was created to showcase traditional and new variety Continental hops to mark the arrival of the northern hemisphere's hop harvest.
Long said: “It was a pleasure putting the beer together with the Cask Masters. We talked a lot about creating a light, refreshing ale with subtle fruit character which focused on Continental hops – a move away from the American Pale Ale style – and we’re excited to see how it fares when it hits pubs in early September.”
Hop Harvest will be launched on 11 September across the Nicholson’s estate, which has close to 80 pubs, centred in London, Birmingham, the north-west of England, Yorkshire and Scotland.
