Loungers and JD Wetherspoon (JDW) were among the sector winners at the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Vegan Food Awards 2017.

The Nick Collins-led Loungers collected the best Vegan Menu award, being praised for its plant-based options including a full English breakfast, burgers, wraps, sweet potato fries, Pimm’s salad, and a dark-chocolate torte.

The demand for delicious, cruelty-free fare is higher than ever, and forward-thinking businesses are responding with everything from animal-free meatballs to egg-free mayo,” said PETA’s Dawn Carr.

“We’re delighted to hear that we have won PETA’s 2017 Vegan Food Award for Best Menu,” said Loungers Head of Food Antony Bennett. “We are constantly reviewing our vegan recipes and developing new ones. We strive to offer an innovative and varied menu and we’re thrilled to have our efforts recognised within the vegan menu category.”

Now in its fifth year, PETA’s Vegan Food Awards highlight some of the most exciting new vegan offerings across the UK.
