City pub launches tongue-in-cheek menu for vegans

A Newcastle pub has launched a variety of new menus, including one specifically aimed at vegan diners.

The Brandling Villa in South Gosforth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne has unveiled dishes on its “Something for them vegan arseholes” menu.

One option customers can choose is Buffalo Tofu Po’Boy which consists of crispy, marinated tofu in a baguette with creamy house slaw and home-made fries for £7.95.

Another dish is named Christ, I’m Not Fricken Eating This, which includes a “corpse-free” version of the pub’s popular chicken dish, with northern-fried fricken, home-made fries, creamy house slaw and corn on the cob, for £9.50.

Vegan options

Diners can also choose to eat The Fake Vegan Rage of Becky Neale, which is the pub’s house recipe beet and bean patty, with fresh leaves, tomato, red onions and gherkins on brioche, served with home-made fries, all for less than £10.

Other options include its vegan Philly cheese stack and; blue and yellow nachos.

The vegan menu joins other new dishes for the pub including a children’s menu called “Sumfin nice for dem lil shites too eat and drinkz”.

This includes macaroni cheese; cod and fries; a burger; and chicken in a brioche bun. At the bottom of the menu was the message: “In the event your child may become unruly, we have a large range of malt whiskies available. You may have been a little optimistic about this parenting thing.”

Especially for dogs

The pub also has a menu for canine diners called “Doggos 4 lyf”, which includes a Sunday roast (options for chicken or beef); sausage and eggs; ice cream; and popcorn.

Four-legged customers can also have a dog beer with their meal; ‘pawsecco’ still wine for dogs; or a herbal tea.

The Morning Advertiser ​contacted Brandling Villa but has not received a response at time of publication.
