Bar and restaurant chain the Alchemist has secured two new central London locations as the number of venues in the city increases to three.

The new openings, in the Shoreditch and Covent Garden areas of the capital, will follow the successful opening of the Alchemist’s Bevis Marks venue – currently its sole site in London.

The first of the two venues is set to open in November 2018 on St Martins Lane in Covent Garden following £1.6m investment.

The second venue, in Old Street, Shoreditch, will open in March 2019 after £1.3m worth of work.

To round off the spending, The Alchemist’s Bevis Marks site will undergo a £280,000 transformation between 6 and 20 August this year.

Simon Potts, managing director of the Alchemist, commented: “We are delighted to finally announce these London venues, it’s been a long time coming, but we feel incredibly lucky to have secured two fantastic locations; St Martins Lane and Old Street.

“Both areas are vibrant, intriguing and offer a fantastically diverse drinking and dining scene – overall the locations feel a perfect fit for us.

“London is obviously a competitive market - but following the success of Bevis Marks, we are confident we can offer a memorable and immersive experience for both residents and tourists to enjoy.

“Customers of our existing site will see a real difference in both our offering and design as we aim to elevate our venues with each launch, and these will be no different.

“We cannot wait to open the doors and put more Alchemist stamps across the city of London.”
