Bake Off’s Candice Brown on work experience at Kerridge’s Coach
Last year Brown revealed she would open her own gastropub this February, the Green Man, in Eversholt, Bedfordshire, following in the footsteps of her pub-owning parents.
To prepare for the opening of the site, which is set to epitomise classic British pub grub, she volunteered in the Coach’s kitchen for two days.
She worked in the kitchen on Monday and Tuesday last week (11–12 February) and has reportedly said, in her own pub, she will channel EastEnders’ landlady Peggy Mitchell and is apparently “dying” to scream “Get out my pub”.
‘I’ve just bought a pub’
“I’ve just bought a pub,” Brown told Bang Showbiz. “I want to do the best Sunday lunches and comforting, warming, hearty food.
“I’m an ambassador for Love British Food, so I work with farmers to promote that seasonal and local produce is when food is at its best.”
Her new pub will be called the Green Man and is expected to open at some point this month.

Brown was brought up in pubs with her brother and wants her enterprise to be a family-friendly one,
Husband Liam Macaulay will also be part of the business and is reported to be supporting the opening.
GBBO baking stars
The baking star’s brother Ben, along with his girlfriend, are also expected to be involved in the business.
Brown plans to turn the Green Man into one of the UK’s top gastropubs, featuring the best of British produce.
Meanwhile, The Sportsman in Seasalter, Kent, was named the UK’s best gastropub at the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs in January.
