The Rising Sun pub in Bath, Somerset, has reopened as the Claremont following a £380,000 revamp.

The investment by pubco and operator Punch, which runs around 1,300 pubs across the UK, has seen the pub fully refurbished – both internally and externally – and created five new jobs.

The Claremont will be run by new licensees Daniel and Simona Matica, who previously ran an American-style diner, and will offer customers a new pizza menu every day until 10pm from which customers can either eat in the pub or take their pizza away.

Discussing the pub’s new look and name, licensee Daniel Matica commented: “We are excited about being here at the Claremont.

“The pub looks great, it has a really cool vibe and is certain to appeal to everyone in the area. We can’t wait to get going.

“Working with Punch, we have lots of plans to bring this pub back to the heart of the community.’’

Punch CEO Clive Chesser Punch CEO added: “We are extremely proud of the work that has gone into transforming the Claremont.

“Daniel and Simona have great plans to deliver a fantastic customer experience all year round and we look forward to working with them to ensure the Claremont becomes a hub for the local community and visitors alike.”

As reported by The Morning Advertiser in April 2018, the Patron Capital-backed pubco unveiled its Urban Oasis high street bar format in Bath alongside its new community pub model called Our Local.
