Mitchells & Butlers-owned chain Toby Carvery halved the cost of its roast dinner to £3.74 for one day only this week (3 April).

The deal, which was only available until 10pm meant guests could get an adult roast dinner for less than £4, instead of the usual price of £7.49, which includes all the trimmings. The deal also meant the price of a child’s meal was down from £4.99 to £2.50.

Diners could choose from beef, gammon, turkey or pork with as many roast potatoes and vegetables as they like.

Unlimited amounts

They could also add unlimited amounts of Yorkshire puddings, macaroni and cheese and beef dripping to their plate.

Toby Carvery claims to be ‘home of the roast’ and has been filling diners’ plates for more than 30 years.

The chain has 158 sites across the nation and serves 21m meals with 39m drinks to punters every year.

It employs 4,500 staff across its estate and uses more than half a million turkeys and beef joints annually.

Previous deal

The brand gave diners almost one third off carvery meals as part of a discount deal with Wowcher in February last year.

The deal offered a carvery meal for two with a drink each for £14.95 (28% less than the normal price of £20.78).

A group of four could eat a carvery meal with a drink each for £29.90 (reduced from the normal price of £41.56).

Or, for larger groups, six diners could have had a carvery meal with a drink each for just £44.85, reduced from £62.34.

The drinks on offer included ‘bottomless’ soft drinks; a 175ml glass of Vinewood white or red wine; 175ml glass of Barefoot rosé wine; a pint of Carling lager or a pint of Stowford cider.
