Last year, we launched the first ever Top 50 Cocktail Bars list and its associated awards. Now, we’re set to bring you the 2019 list of the UK’s best cocktail bars, as voted for by the trade along with drinks experts.
The list, voting for which is already under way, will reveal the very best cocktail bars the UK has to offer, ensuring there is nationwide representation and something on there for everybody.
Each of the voters asked to curate the list selects one bar within their region and then three others from anywhere in the UK, which they believe to be the best the UK has to offer.
Votes are being gathered from as far north as Aberdeen, as far west as Wales and then all the way down to the southern coast of England.
Last year’s list painted a colourful picture of the cocktail bars we have available in the UK, showing London is not the only place you can find skilled bartenders and amazing drinks.
In 2018, we celebrated in Manchester but this year we’re bringing the festivities to London for a party that is already shaping up to be a cracker.
How to enter
The Top 50 Cocktail Bars list is supplemented with three special awards that will highlight and celebrate your bar’s achievements. To be in with a chance of scooping a prestigious award, all you have to do is enter. Here are the three categories:
Newcomer of The Year
This an award for bars that opened no more than two years ago. If you’ve hit the cocktail scene in your area with a bang, shown growth and have an outstanding business, we want to hear from you.
Bar Team of the Year
If you have the best team, led by an outstanding manager then this is an award category you should look to enter. We want to know what you do to ensure the bar runs smoothly and how you ensure the team delivers the best customer service.
One to Watch
If you feel your cocktail bar is worthy of a place on the list, this may be for you. This award is for cocktail bars of any age, style and location. If your bar is the best and you want the world to know then look no further.

London is the cocktail capital of the world, there’s no argument about that, but there are amazing cocktail bars in other cities too, which deserve to be ranked among the best.
Last year, Edinburgh cocktail Bramble was voted to the top of the list. At the time, Bramble’s John Hughes said: “It’s great to see a lot of bars on that list that I know and a lot that I don’t. It really shows what people are doing outside London and across the country.
“We’re delighted to be number one and it’s such nice recognition of what we do. All of the accolades we receive are great but it’s a bonus on top of people having a great time in our bar.”
There is high demand across the UK for great cocktails served in amazing and interesting environments and Top 50 Cocktail Bars started to quench the thirst on its launch last year, showing consumers the best places they can go for a high-quality drink wherever they are in the UK.
Top 50 Cocktail Bars publisher Chris Lowe said: “We have created Top 50 Cocktail Bars to help people find the best bars – which are often hidden away – across the UK. London had more bars listed in 2018 than any other city, but having almost all of the UK’s major cities represented really showcased the explosion of great venues on the cocktail scene.”
Three special awards will also be announced on the night, including Bar Team of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and One to Watch. Those interested in entering the three specialist awards can find out more information by contacting email@example.com or click here to enter them.
The event, which is invite only, will be held in London in June and will be hosted by Top 50 Cocktail Bars along with our event partners.
Top 50 Cocktail Bars is powered by The Morning Advertiser (MA) and is brought to you by the team behind Top 50 Gastropubs.
