Noughty but nice: Thomson & Scott has launched what it claims is the UK's first vegan alcohol-free sparkling wine
This month will see the launch of the UK’s first vegan, organic and alcohol-free sparkling wine, its founders claim.

The no-alcohol variant, named Noughty, is the brainchild of entrepreneur Amanda Thomson – founder of Thomas & Scott – the company behind the launches of Skinny Champagne and Skinny Prosecco.

Produced with 100% organic Chardonnay grapes, its wine is de-alcoholised using a patented technique without any additional sugar or artificial aromas.

Thomson said: “There is a huge amount of evidence to show that consumers are drinking less alcohol and looking for top-quality alternatives in beer and spirits.

“Sales of non-alcoholic drinks are exploding and the global non-alcoholic market is anticipated to reach an estimated £1.2tn by 2025.

“This is down to Millennials and Generation Z drinking less than older generations, in part because they live their lives online and want to retain control of their image and social standing.”

Thomson concluded that Noughty will be available from 21 May through both the on-trade and off-trade, with BrewDog bars stocking it across the country.

“Nobody was tackling the alcohol-free wine sector to cater for the next generation of wine drinkers who don’t want to consume alcohol,” Thomson explained.

“We are excited to be the first to produce a delicious, luxury, alcohol-free sparkling wine that is also 100% organic and vegan certified.”
