Sharp’s is “kicking off” its new brew series with its first release, Sublime Sundown, in collaboration with acclaimed chef and pub owner Paul Ainsworth.

This year, Sharp’s is releasing five Adventure Series brews through bespoke partnerships with local brewers and innovators across Cornwall – the county where the brewery is based.

The first release in the 2020 series is Sublime Sundown, a full-bodied, blood orange steam beer, developed in conjunction with Great British Menu winner Paul Ainsworth.

Flavour profiles

Sharp’s Brewery head brewer Aaron McClure said: “We are delighted to have created this adventure brew in collaboration with Paul.

“His understanding of flavour combinations and experience as a chef really comes through in this fruity, balanced beer. It’s the perfect brew to kick off our Adventure Series this year.”

By combining the knowledge and experience from local start-ups and well-established brands, Sharp’s will produce new flavour profiles while staying true to the brand’s accessible mantra.

A testament to the quality of each drop of beer, the brewer has a tally of over 100 international brewing awards which, in 2019, included five medals at the Drinks Business Awards, five medals at the International Beer Challenge, two medals at the World Beer Challenge and five titles at the esteemed World Beer Awards 2019.

Great in the glass

The citrus flavours combined with the light and fruity body of the Paul Ainsworth collaboration, Sublime Sundown, produce a refreshing pint.

Paul Ainsworth said: “This process has been one of the most creative and rewarding projects, and the final product is everything I wanted it to be.

“The dynamic team at Sharp’s is developing some really innovative brews and I’m honoured to have been involved in Sublime Sundown.

“Inspired by a signature dish from the Mariners pub – Hunters Snags – we wanted to make a really moreish flavoursome beer, which also looks great in the glass.”
