#TheChefsPass challenge launched by Top 50 Gastropubs
From pasta making, to the perfect sourdough recipe, making kimchi and how to sharpen a knife, chefs from the likes of the Unruly Pig, the Longs Arms and Michelin-starred the Harwood Arms will all be appearing on Top 50 Gastropubs’ social media feeds.
Making tortellini
Kicking things off on Monday 4 May, Dave Wall, head chef of the Unruly Pig in Suffolk, will be leading a masterclass in how to make his famous tortellini.
Over the coming weeks, each chef will take up the challenge to showcase a kitchen skill vital to their menus before nominating another chef to step up to the plate.
Editor of Top 50 Gastropubs Nicholas Robinson said: “We can’t be with these chefs right now, be in their pubs and taste the amazing food that has helped get them a place on the list, but we can attempt to recreate some of their recipes and also hone our own kitchen skills with the #TheChefsPass challenge.
“We’ll be kicking things off this month and continuing to showcase various skills over the coming weeks on our Instagram and Facebook accounts, which you can follow at @Top50Gastropubs.”
Skills they should showcase
The chefs taking part in the challenge also welcome suggestions for skills they should showcase from consumers as well as people in the trade.
Robinson continued: “We’re also welcoming teams from gastropubs that have appeared on the list in previous years. And, of course, pubs that haven’t been on the list are very much welcome to join in, just email me at Avpubynf.Ebovafba@jeoz.pbz to let me know you’re interested and we’ll get you involved.”
