Once-in-a-lifetime food and drink experiences are up for grabs from some of the UK’s top chefs and leading restaurants as part of a new charity auction.

Bidding for The Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards Top 100 Auction is now live and will run for two weeks, with bidding for lots closing at 6pm on Sunday 6 September.

There are a range of amazing lots of on offer, including a meal, masterclass and stay at last year’s winner Moor Hall in Lancashire; a tour of Chinatown with celebrated chef Andrew Wong; a foraging experience followed by a meal with The Black Swan at Oldstead’s Tommy Banks; MasterChef star Monica Galetti cooking a dinner party in someone’s home; and chef Clare Smyth leading a culinary masterclass at her two Michelin-starred Notting Hill restaurant Core by Clare Smyth.

Other lots include meals at world-renowned Spanish restaurants El Celler De Can Roca and Tickets (flights and accommodation included); a cooking lesson with chef Tom Aikens at his new restaurant Muse; a grilling masterclass with Brat’s Tomos Parry; a stay at Claridge’s with a meal at superstar chef Daniel Humm's Davies and Brook; and a farm to plate experience with Parkers Arms’ Stosie Madi.

Money raised from the auction will go to industry charity Hospitality Action, which provides vital support to those working in the hospitality sector whose livelihoods are at risk of disappearing as a direct consequence of the pandemic.

Tough road to recovery

“The hospitality industry has been hit incredibly hard by the pandemic and even though restaurants are opening again, there is a long and very tough road to recovery ahead,” says Moor Hall’s Mark Birchall.

“It’s so important that we come together to support this industry and those who need it the most.”

Money from the auction will be used for Hospitality Action’s Hospitality Recovery Fund. “This auction sees the cream of the UK’s restaurant sector pulling together with some fantastic lots to help the wider hospitality sector and support those who really need it,” says a spokesperson for the charity.
