Sky Business has launched a new video series focusing on pub licensees’ preparations for the new football seasons in tandem with a range of new tools for its customers.

The collection of short films shines a light on the people that make live sport in pubs and bars an unmissable, communal experience.

The Pub: Football’s Home, was filmed post-lockdown and looks at the key role the licensed trade plays in bringing together local communities and how live sport gives customers the perfect reason to meet up safely and responsibly with friends and family.

The films profile licensees, front of house staff and customers who come together every match day to enjoy sport.

Episode one, filmed at the Wellington in Hale, Liverpool – a Marston’s tenanted pub – is available now with more episodes released weekly throughout September.

In the remainder of the series, Sky Business visits the Contented Sole in Dumfries, Scotland; the Prince of Peckham in Peckham, London; the New Inn in Wetherby, Leeds, and the Globe Inn in Brentford, Middlesex.

“Our customers are at the heart of everything we do and our partnership with them is very important to us,” Simon Raggett, managing director of Sky Business said. “The Pub: Football’s Home really highlights the role that pubs and clubs play and how sport has a unique and unrivalled way of bringing people together.

“At a time when stadiums are closed, sports fans are looking for the atmosphere and sense of togetherness which is where pubs and clubs come to the fore.

“With Sky Business, venues can bring their customers the experience we’ve all been missing, including the biggest games from the Premier League, the EFL and so much more.”

Sky Business has also created a range of support tools and events to help publicans make the most of their investment in Sky Sports.

These include giving Sky Business customers access to handpicked digital training modules as a result of a new partnership with Facebook that gives to help develop their social media skills. Customers can learn how to create simple, attention grabbing ads to help reconnect them to their community and locals.

In addition, a series of events called ‘An Audience With…’ brings legends of sport, past and present to Sky Business venues across the UK over the course of the season, helping licensees to create memorable experiences with their locals.

What’s more, Sky’s country-wide Trophy Tour will see either the Premier League or Scottish Premiership trophy made available so that Sky Business venues can show and share the silverware with their customers.

Both ‘An Audience With…’ and ‘The Trophy Tour’ will be supported and promoted by Sky Business so that customers can make the most from the opportunities that they bring.

All these activities can be accessed through the new-look MySkySports.com, the broadcaster’s digital one-stop shop.
