The Golden Lion Inn wins Front Line Services award at the Great British Pub Awards
With the lockdown inspiring a supermarket scramble, front line workers were missing out on the opportunity to feed their families - fortunately, The Golden Lion Inn was able to step in.
The Redruth-based business saw that NHS staff were missing out and stepped up to offer support by feeding front line workers free meals available in fridges at the front of the pub.
They rallied the local community, suppliers and farmers to help provide supplies and the initiative took off with more than 2,500 meals provided.
