Meet the finalists: Best Premium Food Offer

The Morning Advertiser has profiled the pub companies in the running for the Best Premium Food Offer prize, sponsored by Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I, at the 2021 Publican Awards.

Stay Original Company

Named among the 75 best companies to work for in the south west of England in 2020, the Stay Original Company owns and operates a portfolio of boutique hotels and inns across what is historically one of the UK's foremost tourism hotspots.

After acquiring and renovating its first site in Wedmore, Somerset, in 2011, the Stay Original Company has since added sites in Somerton, Bradford-on-Avon in Wiltshire, Shaftesbury and Dorchester – both Dorset.

Stay Original is also in the running for this year's Best Pub Employer and Best Accommodation prizes, as well as the Best New Site category for the Kings Arms in Dorchester.

Metropolitan Pub Company

Metropolitan Pub Company is a collection of around 60 individually branded “urban locals” spread across central and Greater London.

Liberation Group/Butcombe Brewing Company

Winner of the Best Food Offer prize at last year’s Publican Awards, Liberation Group has once again been shortlisted for its culinary prowess, this time in the Premium category.

The Channel Islands-based group currently operates 68 predominantly freehold pubs across Jersey (44 pubs), Guernsey (22 pubs) and Alderney (2 pubs) in addition to 30 pubs across Somerset, Bristol, Bath, Gloucester and Wiltshire through Butcombe Brewery – which it acquired in January 2015.

Cubitt House

Cubitt House is an independent business boasting eye-catching pubs across some of London’s most affluent neighbourhoods.

It’s estate comprises the Thomas Cubitt (Belgravia), the Alfred Tennyson (Knightsbridge), the Orange (Pimlico) and the Grazing Goat (Marylebone).

Darwin & Wallace

The operator of eight sites across the capital, Darwin & Wallace is a collection of neighbourhood bars which revolve around green credentials, bespoke design as well as a top-notch food and drink offer.

A previous winner of the Best Sustainable Pub Company gong, London-based Darwin & Wallace has been shortlisted in three categories at this year’s Publican Awards – Best Drinks Offer, Best Premium Food Offer and, once again, Best Sustainable Pub Company.
