Heineken 0.0 retains top spot in no to low division

The no and low-alcohol category was another division that saw losses on this year’s The Morning Advertiser’s Drinks List, though the top five selling brands in the group remained the same as last year.

Heineken 0.0, which is expected to be available on draught in pubs across the country from next year, prevailed this year to keep the number 1 spot on The Drinks List – top brands to stock in 2022 but still saw losses of 13.6% and 11.4% in volume and value respectively.

Sales of hectolitres (HL) were down by 2,352 for the Dutch beer, from 17,244 to 14,892, while its value fell from £13.7m to £12.2m.

Number two on the list, despite seeing the biggest loss in both volume and value, was Beck’s LA Alcohol Free (Blue).

Sales of German beer Beck’s fell from 9,797 to 6,230 (36.2%) and the company saw a fall in value of £3.4m from £9.7m to £6.3m (34.8%).

Lowest drop in sales

Peroni Libera experienced the lowest drop in sales and value this year, 10.1% and 1.4% respectively, and earnt third place on the Drinks List 2021.

The Italian alcohol-free beer saw a drop in sales of HL from 3,483 to 3,131 while its value remained the same as last year, at £3.4m.

Coming in at fourth and fifth place this year were San Miguel 0% and Bavarian Erdinger Alcoholfrei, respectively.

While Erdinger Alcoholfrei saw slightly lower levels of loss compared to San Miguel 0%, it was not enough to beat its rival in the race for fourth place.

San Miguel 0% saw both its volume and value drop by 26.6% with sales of HL falling from 1,832 to 1,344 while its value dropped from £1.6m to £1.1m and Erdinger Alcoholfrei saw its sales of HL drop from 1,565 to 1,200 (23.3%) and its value fall from £1.1m to £900,000 (19.9%).
