Partners Powering Change: new Greene King Pub Partners initiative aims to help its partners get involved in important causes
Greene King Pub Partners yesterday (Tuesday 3 May) launched a new initiative to aid its sites with getting involved in important causes.

The new initiative, Partners Powering Change, will enable Greene King Pub Partners to work with important causes, charities, and tackle climate change under three strands: Communities, Environment and People.

Greene King pub partners managing director Wayne Shurvinton said: “We’re really proud to launch Partners Powering Change.

Exciting journey

“It’s the beginning of an important and very exciting journey for us. It’s us, working together with our partners, to do the right thing.”

The Communities strand of Partners Powering Change will focus on charity work with Only a Pavement Away and the Licensed Trade Charity, while the people strand of the initiative will focus on promoting diversity and inclusion in Greene King Pub Partners’ pubs as well as developing apprenticeship opportunities.

Partners Powering Change is to be kickstarted by the environment strand, which will focus on reducing the energy used by Greene King’s Partners and improving waste management, by offering its licensees energy and cost saving initiatives such as access to waste management solutions via supplier SWR newstar, which will help reduce waste to landfill.

Furthermore, Greene King Pub Partners will be offered access to a cellar management system to optimise energy use in cellars as well as the installation of LED lighting further reducing energy usage and costs with more initiatives under Partners Powering Change expected to be announced in the future.

This comes after Greene King pledged to donate up to £500,000 in funding to support grassroots sports across the UK as part of its Proud to Pitch funding scheme as well as a pledge to become net zero by 2040.

Great initiatives

Shurvinton added: “To kickstart Partners Powering Change, we are making a number of energy saving initiatives available to our Partners that also have the added bonus of reducing costs.

“These include access to a waste management supplier, cellar energy management systems and the installation of LED lighting.

“The Greene King business has always been involved in brilliant initiatives and Partners Powering Change will enable our Partners to drive their own great initiatives too.”
