Large pub operator Young's has announced its Scotch Egg Challenge is returning this year.

Now in its tenth year, the free-to-attend contest has been scheduled to take place between 6pm and 10pm at Youngs’ the Guinea Grills event space, Guinea 23, Mayfair, London on Monday 20 June.

Founder of the Scotch Egg Challenge and general manager of the Guinea Grill Oisin Rogers said: "I can't wait to welcome everyone back to the Guinea to take part in the Scotch Egg Challenge.

Special event

“It's been amazing seeing all our customers enjoy special events again, and now it's finally time to host one of our biggest parties of the year."

Sponsored by Estrella and hosted by Rogers, the challenge involves chefs creating Scotch Eggs, from classic to experimental or quirky recipes, to be blind tasted and scored out of ten by a panel of judges.

This years line up of chefs includes Ben Tish from Cubitt House, Calum Franklin of Holborn Dining Room, Tom Booton from the Dorchester and Young’s very own Masterchef winner Natalie Coleman of the Oyster Shed with journalist and maitre d’ Joe Warwick set to compere alongside the Evening Standard’s David Ellis.

A lot of fun

Furthermore, the contest will be judged by a line of the UK’s top culinary experts and food writers accompanied by special guest judge Darragh Curran, better known as the Guinness Guru.

Previous Scotch Egg Challenge winners include the Drapers Arms, Holborn Dining Room and Smoking Goat.

Rogers added: “It is going to be a lot of fun - come one, come all and bring a huge appetite."
