Molson Coors hard seltzer launches on draught

Molson Coors Beverage Company has launched a draught version of its flagship hard seltzer, Three Fold, to the UK on-trade, following a successful trial of Three Fold’s ‘Red Berries’ flavour on draught at five venues in London, Manchester and Edinburgh.

The wider rollout will enable on-trade customers to capitalise on this success and the growing potential of the hard seltzer category, which increased in value more than eight-fold in 2021, according to market research company IRI.

Now available to all UK on-trade outlets, Molson Coors has already confirmed listings at a number of bars at WeWork co-working spaces across the country.

Molson Coors Three Fold brand manager Hannah Jeffery said: “Our trial of Three Fold draught was popular with consumers, bringing together the light, fresh taste of hard seltzer served in a glass over ice.

“Draught is a great way to marry hard seltzer with a classic presentation style familiar to hospitality settings.

“Rolling our draught serve out nationally allows more of our customers to tap into the momentum behind Three Fold.

“While its early days for hard seltzer, particularly in the on-trade, offering a different format will help increase visibility for the category as it further builds its relevance to the hospitality setting.”

Three Fold is also available in 330ml cans in three flavours: Red Berries, Citrus and Tropical.

Innis & Gunn announces limited-edition serve

Award-winning brewer Innis & Gunn has announced a limited-edition variation of its flagship beer, ‘The Original’.

The Original: PX, a 7.4% ABV Scottish Golden Beer, is a one-off beer which sees the Original’s cask maturation completed in a cache of Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Spain.

Spending three months in these casks, before being brought to Scotland from Montilla Moriles in Southern Spain, the resulting beer offers flavours of sultanas and Christmas pudding, complemented by the brand’s signature malty taste, with an aroma of caramel and vanilla alongside hints of fig and jam.

The Original: PX will be available in a specially designed carton from 16th August via the Innis & Gunn online shop at RRP £7 per 330ml bottle.

Innis & Gunn founder and master brewer Dougal Gunn Sharp said: “The importance of sherry to Scotland dates way back and of course, sherry casks are used to mature whisky thanks to their mellow-sweet character and array of exotic flavours and aromas.

“As our flagship brew the Original is uniquely single malt whisky cask matured, we were inspired to build on this historic Scottish-Spanish connection and mature our special beer, in those special casks, creating the Original: PX.

“Just as finishing whisky in these casks produces an incredible spirit, we have proven the same can be done with beer.

“The Original: PX is a wonderful new way to experience this already special beer, while it will also appeal to whisky and sherry lovers alike.”
