Greene King Pub Partners has announced it has raised more than £8,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The leased, tenanted and franchise division of operator and brewer Greene King raised the funds at a charity golf tournament hosted at Meon Valley Golf & Country Club in Southampton, organised by members of the pub partners operations team in the Southwest.

Greene King business development organiser and tournament organiser Rob Ayling said: “We had a great day hosting a brilliant golf tournament for our partners, but more importantly, we raised more than £8,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Significant funds

“Thank you to all our partners and suppliers for making the charity tournament – and significant funds raised from it – possible.”

A total of 16 teams entered the tournament, ranging from single-site and multiple operators with Greene King Pub Partners, to sector suppliers, including Asahi and Molson Coors, and Greene King members of staff, with a team from pub partners site the Cricketers in Curdridge, Winchester, winning the tournament.

Furthermore, a charity auction was also held at the end of the tournament to add to the amount fundraised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

All of the money raised will help the charity continue to do whatever it takes to provide vital care and support for people living with cancer.

Deeply proud

This comes as earlier this year Greene King Pub Partners announced its plans to expand its portfolio to contain 30 sites throughout 2022 with its franchised offer, Hive Pubs, following the concept’s launch in November last year.

Furthermore, the branded franchise offering took on a trio of sites from food-led pub group Black Diamond Pub Company earlier this month.

Greene King Pub Partners managing director Wayne Shurvinton said: “As a business we are deeply proud of our partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.

“It is wonderful to have come together with our Partners and suppliers to raise such significant sums for this remarkable charity.”
