Lake District refurbs for Inn Collection Group

Three Lake District Inns are now under refurbishment as the Inn Collection Group works to breathe new life into the Wateredge Inn, the Waterhead Inn and the Angel Inn.

The Newcastle-based operator began the third of these revamps on Monday 17 October as contractors moved into the Waterhead Inn, with national firm GSSArchitecture appointed as architects and principal designers on the schemes.

All sites will benefit with new bars and restaurants, improved accessibility and higher quality guest accommodation. The Wateredge Inn and the Waterhead Inn buildings are situated on a prominent plot of land, providing guests with view of Lake Windemere.

In addition to the Lake District inns, the Park Hotel in Tynemouth also recently started construction work on site, with contractor STP Construction working on the revamp of the hotel.

The Inn Collection Group property director Louise Stewart said: “We are delighted to be working with GSSArchitecture and bringing their expertise to the refurbishment of these much-loved inns. They are iconic sites that we are excited to have brought into group and we are confident guests will love them once they are ready to welcome people back through their doors.

“It is important to us that our renovations bring our own identity but at the same time are respectful of these iconic properties heritage and working with GSSArchitecture will help achieve that at these inns.”

GSSArchitecture partner Simon Rennison-Rae commented: “It’s a pleasure to be working so closely with The Inn Collection Group on multiple projects in the Lake District and beyond. We are excited to see how these much-loved buildings can enhance the communities and we look forward to visiting each one once they’ve been renovated!”
