Camden Town Brewery launches limited-edition Pilsner

Camden Town Brewery has announced the launch of Imperial Pilsner, an 8.5% ABV unaged version of the barrel-aged Imperial Pilsners launched by the brewery over the last few years.

Brewed with Camden's house Bamberg Pilsner malt for a full and intense bready malt character with a touch of wheat and rice to lighten the body and dry out the finish, the new serve is made using the same Perle hops as Camden's Hells Lager with the addition of new German hop Callista, offering an injection of stone fruit characters.

The Pilsner is also fermented with a classic Bavarian Lager yeast, keeping the higher ABV beer drinkable, with added New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops to create fresh vinous notes.

Camden Town Brewery innovation brewer Chris Wheeler said: "Since 2017, we have explored different variations of Barrel Aged Imperial Pilsners for our end of year beer and have now honed our Imperial Pilsner recipe to something we are extremely proud of.

"Previously only the brewers got to try the ‘young’ version of the brew that goes into the barrels but this year, we thought it was tasting too good to just save it for ourselves and we are excited to give beer lovers the chance to finally try it."

Camden's new Imperial Pilsner is availble now for a limited-time only from the brewery's webshop in 500ml bottles at RRP £5 a serve.

Aspall brings back its festive Mulled Cyder

Aspall Mulled Cyder

Suffolk-based cidery Aspall Cyder has relaunched its Mulled Cyder offering for the on-trade this festive period.

Combining notes of hibiscus, ginger, aniseed and orange peel with traditional festive spices such as cinnamon and cloves, the infusion bags pair perfectly with warmed Aspall Cyder.

To help operators create a festive atmosphere this Christmas season, Aspall will also be rolling out limited-edition glassware, urns, posters and bar cards for the on-trade as well as launching a scented inspired by the flavours in the Mulled Cyder, made in partnership with independent Suffolk-based candle maker The White Candle Company.

Moreover, the Mulled Cyder infusions have already secured listings with a number of pub groups including Young’s, Whitbread, Greene King and Mitchells & Butlers.

Aspall Cyder senior brand manager Georgia Wallis said: “As the cold weather approaches, we know more people are looking for a warm drink in a cosy atmosphere. Our Mulled Cyder, infused with festive flavours, will deliver just that and we expect it to prove a big hit with consumers over the winter months.

"We’ll be working with our customers in the run-up to the festive season to create experiences that customers won’t be able to get elsewhere. We’re confident this will help them to drive extra footfall and make the most of the opportunity to drive sales this Christmas.”

Aspall Cyder products can be purchased from Revl.

Pull the Pin launches for the on-trade

PUL.THE.PIN.EDITED.63

Newly launched spirits brand, Pull the Pin, has announced the release of its core range, consisting of Spiced Rum (37.5% ABV), Passionfruit & Pineapple Silver Rum (37.5% ABV), Raspberry & Strawberry Pink Rum (37.5% ABV) and Pull the Pin Gin (41.5% ABV).

Made with real spices and American charred oak, the Spiced Rum variant offers notes of butterscotch alongside cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, clove and ginger while the brand's Pull the Pin Gin is a blend of botanicals including juniper, Seville orange and cassia, culminating in a smooth and refreshing finish, ideal for use in cocktails such as a Tom Collins.

On a fruiter note, Pull the Pin's Passionfruit & Pineapple Silver Rum offers a hint of orange zest behind the passionfruit and pineapple flavours, best served in a Pina Colada or mixed with lemonade, while the Raspberry & Strawberry Pink Rum serve's hint of citrus sharpness complimenting the sweet berry flavours make it ideal in daiquiris and mojitos or simply served with lemonade and fresh lime.

All Pull the Pin variants are availble in 70cl bottle format at RRP £34.94 from Master of Malt or by contacting info@pullthepinpirits.com for trade enquiries.

Brewpoint announces 'ghostly' new serve

OLD.SHUCK

Award-winning Bedford based brewery, Brewpoint, has announced the launch of Old Shuck, a 5% ABV modern take on a classic dark German Lager.

Brewed with a personalised pilsner malt and seven speciality malts, including two rye malts, Old Shuck offers flavours reminiscent of cold-brewed coffee and cocoa with hints of liquorice and is named after the ghostly black hellhound said to roam the coastline and countryside of East Anglia.

Brerwpoint head brewer James Hunter said, “The black lager style, or Schwarzbier, is an intriguing one to any brewer. Balance is key for the beer yet can be elusive.

"The concept behind the beer was first trialled last Autumn on our microbrewery as a ‘passion project’ by brewing director, Ian Jones, and refined and upscaled to a full-size brew this year.”

Old Shuck is availble now direct from the brewery's webshop at RRP £51 for 24x330ml cans.
