Loungers comes to The Springs, Leeds

Expanding café and bar group Loungers Plc has announced a straight 15-year lease to occupy a 4,080 sq ft unit at The Springs, Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Caballero Longue, located at the heart of Thorpe Park, will be its second venue in Yorkshire. The dog-friendly site is set to open on 22 February.

Cabarello Lounge at The Springs will offer a work-from-home setting. It will also cater to kids with a selection of games, books and toys and will create 27 new jobs.

Loungers community manager Gemma Irwin said the company was “delighted” to bring Caballero Lounge to The Springs.

She added: “Our lounges strive to put community at the heart of hospitality and our teams always go the extra mile to make a difference.  They are actively encouraged to connect with their communities by working with local groups, charities, organisations and businesses that are at the heart of the fabric of local life.

"We are very much looking forward to welcoming local residents to the venue and to playing our part at the heart of The Springs development."

Senior commercial manager at Scarborough Group International, which is responsible for the asset management of The Springs, Rachel Vickers said: “We are delighted to welcome Loungers to The Springs Leeds.

“The deal is testament to the strength of proposition for the centre which continues to attract high-quality operators, creating a fantastic mixed offering for the Thorpe Park estate and wider East Leeds Community.

“This exciting new venue will bring a new dynamic to The Springs which is currently more widely recognised for its retail offering.

“The introduction of a new café-bar, sitting alongside the cinema and existing food and beverage outlets, will widen the audience appeal and catchment with reason to spend more time at The Springs.

“This is further supported by the forthcoming new railway station on site that will provide direct access from the likes of York and Harrogate and also from Leeds City Centre in just eight minutes.”

South Downs pub off market

The Country Inn, Bepton, West Sussex has been let to operators Bryan and Cynthia Austwick, Fleurets has announced.

The couple, who have been together for a decade, have recently taken on the pub in the South Downs national park.

The Country Inn has been shut for more than four years, and the pair are eager to give it a refresh in the old style of a country village destination.

Scheduled renovations include a fully updated kitchen and a large kitchen garden to host farm animals.

The main seating area will look similar to the existing footprint but with a refreshed ceiling height, updated comfortable seating and separation of dining and standing bar. Toilet facilities will also be made more family and wheelchair friendly.

What’s more, the pub’s outbuilding will be transformed from a garage workshop into a casual coffee takeaway. Summer 2023 will see a children’s play area built in the pub’s garden as well as a live music stage.

Sustainability will be at the forefront of the pub’s refurbishment, with electric vehicle charging points to be erected in the car park and solar panels on the felt roofs.
