The venue on Chepstow Road is part of the Proper Pubs division of the pub company and has undergone a transformation which includes a new bar area, furniture, wooden flooring, soft furnishings, fixtures and fittings throughout.
The Maindee operator Emma Lewis said that opening night was “fantastic”. She added: “It was amazing to see all our customers, old and new, coming to see what the pub has to offer!
“The feedback we received from our community was amazing, and we can’t wait to see them again soon!”
The Maindee will provide a range of drinks offers, including cocktails, wine and fizz promotions, and will host both Sky Sports and BT sports.
Lewis also looks forward to hosting entertainment such as karaoke, games clubs – including pool and darts tournaments – quick night, and live music.
Several community initiatives will be supported with the aim to raise money to have a lifesaving defibrillator installed on-site.
Proper Pubs operations director Matthew Gurney said: “The refurbishment at the Maindee looks fantastic – the team has worked really hard to ensure it is a success for the local community.
“On behalf of the Proper Pubs team, we would like to wish our community hero, Emma Lewis and her team, every success for the future in making the Maindee a fantastic hub of the community”.
Proper Pubs recently installed its 100th defibrillator across its estate through fundraising with the help of its locals.
Recently, Admiral Taverns revealed it had invested more than £10m into upgrading its community pubs throughout the first half of 2023.
The group, which owns almost 1,500 pubs in England, Scotland and Wales, has invested the funds into 138 pubs across both its leased and tenanted estate and its wet-led operator division, Proper Pubs.
Investments range from transformational interior and external refurbishments through to upgrading licensee accommodation and making essential structural repairs.
As a result of the ongoing capital expenditure (capex) scheme, Admiral said it has been able to enhance essential social hubs, further supporting all aspects of community life.
